We walk alongside hurting girls and families as we pursue healthy relationship with others and with Jesus.

About Us
Welcome to Refuge Mountain Ranch, a Christ-centered educational sanctuary for young girls devoted to offering hope and renewal to families in crisis.
Nestled in the mountains of Western Maryland, our ranch spans across 375 breathtaking acres near Grantsville, giving life to our mission of healing and family restoration.
Here at Refuge Mountain Ranch, we provide an education model that rests on four pillars: relational group work, equine-assisted learning, wilderness experiences and family support.
We rest on promise from Psalm 91:4 that the Lord will cover us and give us refuge. It is our hope and prayer that anyone who comes to the ranch experiences the love and security of a relationship with Jesus.
Our Story
Here at Refuge Mountain Ranch, we believe every family deserves a second chance, and we are committed to walking alongside hurting teens and their families.
Inspired by the established successes of Chestnut Mountain Ranch in Morgantown, West Virginia and Meadows of Hope in Holtwood PA, we’re committed to the transformative power of a loving and structured Christ-centered educational environment.
Under the guidance of our board, we developed our program model to support girls and their families in rediscovering the joy of Jesus Christ, that transforms relationships and changes lives. Ben Riegsecker and his wife Elissa currently live on the property with their children and are working in the ministry.
It takes bravery to seek help, and we honor that courage by meeting families where they’re at and walking with them in their specific challenges. Together, we’ll find the pathway to hope, whether it involves our program or collaboration with one of our trusted community partners.
In addition to educational support, our teen girls and their families benefit from our equestrian program, group relational work and a wide array of outdoor activities designed to heal and empower. Most importantly, our relationship with Jesus Christ equips us to reach the hearts of young girls and their families, offering growth and learning in a new, unique way.
